Project evaluation

Evaluation
Our project that my group and I produced was an advertisement for organic food. The title of our advertisement was called ‘Breaking Bad Cow’ which consisted of one character called ‘Bob’ whose face we never filmed as we chose to only film his body in order to show his daily routine on different days.  In our production we show Bob’s daily routine; waking up, then driving to buy his non-organic hamburger from a fast food restaurant.  We then show Bob waking up in the middle of the night realising that he has turned into a zombie because of the non-organic burger.

Before my group and I started filming, we did a lot of research on the films’ World War Z’ and ‘The Walking Dead’ so that we all had an idea what camera angles and timing would work best when we would start filming.  I created many scary zombie images in Photoshop so that I had a lot of practice for when I would have to start making the poster and logo. Since there was a stop motion scene in our production I also practised making stop motion videos in Premier Pro so that I could prepare for the stop motion that was in our final production.  I also explored different audio sounds from the internet that I thought would be appropriate for the advertisement. I tested audio sounds using Adobe Audition so I could learn how to use this software in order to apply it to my project production.

After each member of my group had done their relevant research, we decided to choose an eerie sound track that had a hint of humour to it as we did not want our advertisement to be too frightening for the viewer.  Also the way in which we filmed ‘Bob’ losing parts of his body and having his blood squirting out was non-realistic as we wanted to construct a humorous advertisement.

Whilst filming our production we did change a few scenes and the continuity of the advertisement in order to make it different and unique.  Originally we were going to film ‘Bob’ on his journey to the fast food restaurant and show the effects of what happens to him afterwards.  We were going to make his journey only on one day, however we changed this as we made ‘Bob’s’ clothing and location different in every scene in order to represent all the days of the week that ‘Bob’ wakes up and goes to buy his burger.

In the future when making another production, I would make sure that the public places that we want to film in such as a fast food restaurant are open so we have access to them and the filming can run smoothly as planned.

This advertisement for organic food would be shown as a TV and internet advertisement as it is humorous which captures the viewer’s attention and also there is a meaningful message to the viewers in the advertisement which is to eat healthy meat or you might get a serious illness.

My group and I worked well together as we all took part in filming, editing and getting access to props and places. We all contributed in the project and each shared our knowledge of the research that we had done. Overall the project went as planned apart from the few changes that we made. Our time management worked well as we met up every week to discuss, film or edit the scenes.
